Our Spring Break

We decided to take a break from our regular school routine this week. My hope is that we will get out of the house, ride bikes, maybe plant some flowers, jump on the trampoline, anything but watch TV and play on the computers. We had a really good weekend. We spent time with several of our friends. We are enjoying getting to know all the church members. Kim's daddy is doing very well. He had his open heart surgery on Thursday and hopefully will be going home on Wednesday. Thank you to all who prayed for him.

April 16, 2007 was the day Grandaddy White went into the hospital. He never got to go back home. So many things have made me sad about him lately. Yesterday Dave was flipping through channels and came across the Braves game. That was his favorite thing to do. He watched them every time they were on TV. He also liked Walker Texas Ranger. He liked Oreo ice cream and anything fried:) My kids still talk about him all the time. Andrew(my nephew) waves and points at thing just like Grandaddy did. We all miss him a bunch. He died on July 3, 2007. That was exactly 33 years to the day after my Grandmother died. She died 4 months before I was born.

Well off I go to do something outdoors. It rained a little, maybe the soil will be good for some digging......till next time.

I do not know why there is such a BIG space below!!!!!

I cannot fix this if you have any ideas please tell me. I guess I

could write a lot more to try and fill the space. Maybe I should

just make a list of my favorite things......I like coffee and cake,

long hot baths, cold bed sheets, kids market with Kim, date

night with Dave, Sunday lunch at Momas, Law and Order(any

of them), family devotions, scrapbooking, yard work(my Daddy

will laugh at that), Andrew calling me "moma" I love him, any

song Abby sings, Daves laugh, Erins artwork, Samuels

voice, Daddys knowledge, Moma's cooking, watching the news,

sleeping and writing this blog.

I dont know if that took up alot of space but it sure

was fun to write. Have a good day!!

Family Devotions

We just finished our family devotion and the kids are off to bed. I am about to study for our Home Bible Fellowship. We have it here on Thursday nights. Kim's daddy is having open heart surgery in the morning around 6:30. Please pray for them during the day. We have been having really good devotions. Last night was one of the best. We are going through Acts and every night Dave just reads a portion to us. Then he goes back and asks questions about the passage and previous passages. Saturday afternoon on the drive home from Birmingham, Erin told us about someone who said God wasn't real. So Dave posed the question to all three of the kids "Do you believe God is real?" and "Why do you believe God is real?" They all three said they believed God was real but none could say why. So instead of answering for them, Dave left the to think about it. Every day he would ask them again individually. So last night he asked the question again "why do you believe God is real?." Abby said because of the world, Samo said cause He loves him and Erin said because of sin. Of course the answer we were looking for was because we see Him in the Word and in nature. They really started to understand the more we talked. Abby was looking stuff up in her Bible and they were all three referring back to the past couple of Sunday School lessons. Its really neat to see them beginning to understand.

Samuel and Andrew

So this is how the conversation went between Samuel who is five and Andrew who is two. I hear something fall into the kitchen floor and Samo says " No Andrew, that is being direspectful. Do you know that Jesus does not like when you do that, but you are making the devil happy." Andrew said "NO, NOOO!! Sanal(Samuel)" Then Samuel came to tell me Andrew just sinned. All of this argument had something to do with Andrew knocking something off the table and filling the dogs food bowl with his ham sandwich. Andrew is spending the day with us. He has purple glittery hair right now and maybe some colored chapstick, that sounds better than saying he has on lipstick. He loves coming to stay with his favorite aunt!!!(Lori and Giny you know he loves me thebest:) I snapped a picture earlier of the kids playing outside. They had all that "stuff" pulled out. It was kinda funny.

We started working in the yard today. Dave mowed the grass and I am putting pinestraw down in the flower beds. I hope to start planting some things soon. Abby helped me weed the flower beds, Erin picked up trash and anything Charlie had chewed up, and Samo watched Andrew. I know Tracy would be glad to know that. My friend Julie said I like this blogging because its like Scrapbooking. I think thats exactly why I like it. I love to scrapbook but cant seem to find the time to pull all that stuff out. I am over a year behind on my albums. I did finish the kids books. Enjoy this beautiful spring day!

Childs Play

Abby, Erin and Samo can't seem to play without pulling everything out. Today the girls decided to lay on the swing outside. They took around 5 pillows and who knows how many blankets. I think Tracy, Lori and Giny used to do stuff like that. I remember one time when they were little they laid out in the sun at the end of the driveway(almost in the road). I'm sure they took half
of the house with them to lay out. I'm glad its getting warm so the kids can play outside. But.......when they play outside they pull EVERYTHING out of the garage and put it all over the yard. I mean they get the ladder , beach chairs, all the riding toys, the tent ,any tools Dave may have forgotten to put up, coloring books, pens, pencils, baby dolls, swords, guns, sticks(this is Samuels latest item to collect), and the list goes on and on. Why do they need all that stuff to play? What happened to hide and seek or freeze tag? Soccer, dodge ball or playing on the swing set? They do jump onthe trampoline sometimes. Samo got some rope for his birthday(thanks Jason:) and he ties everything up. Once he tied my bedroom door to the closet door in the hall with the tie from one of my robes. Iwas in my bedroom and had to wait on him to untie the door. He has tied Daves truck to the van. The lasted episode with the rope is when Samo and Erin tied the chest of drawers to the bunk bed. That turned out to not be such a good idea. The chest fell over barely missing Samo's head, the tv fell off and pulled the cable straight out of the wall. I don't think they will do that again. Do things like that only happen at our house?

All that said, I love my children. They are all healthy and happy(most of the time). They don't always do things like I would do them. They certainly don' keep things as tidy as I would like them to. But how much does all that matter in the scheme of things. This is a big lesson I'm trying to learn. How to let things go...maybe not having everything in its place all the time. This is hard for me. I can't relax unless the dishes are washed and a load of clothes is in the washer and dryer. I know it sound crazy. For those of you who pray for us, please pray that I would get better at this. I would like to be able to sit down and play Connect Four with Abby even if the laundry is piled to the ceiling and the floor needs to be vacuumed. I want to be able to play barbies with Erin even if the dishes are not washed. I want to read Samo his favorite book or jump on the trampoline with him even if I haven't dusted in a month.

Well now I'm off to see what the kids are doing. Erin has changed clothes a couple of times and they all keep coming in for more stuff. So now I'll go see what the outside looks like. While I've been typing they have been playing outside. Theres no telling what I may find........but I'm sure it will not be kids playing hide and seek.

Busy....but a good busy

What a busy weekend this has with been. We began Friday morning with dying eggs. I enjoy that as much as the kids. Friday afternoon we did some activities with our school group. We had show and tell and then the kids did an activity about the resurrection. They love all their friends. We have such a good school group. I am thankful for all of them. They have made our transition much easier.

Friday night we had a surprise party for Jason. He turned 30 today. It was fun. We got to see alot of friends we haven't see in a month or so. By the way...Christy and Morgan, my ankle was not broken.....just bruised and a little sore...its not nice to laugh when somebody gets hurt.(For the rest of you who werent here.. I banged my ankle really hard on the dish washer). Anyway it was good to see everyone and really good that Jason was actually surprised. As much as Samo loves Jason, he slept through the first half of the party. He was just getting a power nap I guess.

Today we went to Grannys. She lives in West Jefferson. We ate ALOT and the kids hunted eggs. We hid 354 eggs. Yes I said 354. I think they found everyone of them. Even the ones Dave hid way up in trees. They were creative in getting them down. Some climbed trees, other took sticks and knocked them out of the trees. They all had fun. Tomorrow we will spend Resurrection Sunday with our Grace Fellowship family and then have lunch at Mamaw and Grandaddy's in Talladega. We hope all of you have a great day tomorrow.

Spring Is Here

What a pretty day it is! There are so many things we want to do this week. we went to the park this afternoon and I took pictures of the kids in their Easter clothes (I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures). They like posing for pictures. We also have to dye eggs before Saturday. Hopefully we will do that in the morning. We will go to Birmingham on Saturday to visit Daves mom(Granny). The kids made beautiful flower pictures this morning in school. Samuel wanted tomake something "like a Battle" he said, I wasn't sure how that fit with our flower theme, so he made a pink flower with LOTS of glue. We also made mobiles to hang in the school room to brighten it up.....we did some reading, math and language also :) I'll add that so it dosent sound like all we do is play.

We are looking forward to this weekend. We get to see lots of family and it is our first Ressurection Sunday at Grace Fellowship. We have felt at home their since our first Sunday. This year the death and ressurectionof Jesus has become more real to me than ever before. I think some of it is watching the kids and hearing their questions. We have Home Bible Fellowship at our house tonight. We are discussing WHO IS JESUS? Perfect timing for this study. I hope all of you will take time this week to think about that. Blessings to you.

Our Girls

Today it is dreary outside but very lively inside our house. The girls are doing what they call a web show. Its not really going on the web but they don't care. They are shooting video of each other and all their guests:) Our dog Charlie has been their main guest today. Samo is not cooperating with them very well. I'm trying to incorporate school into this adventure. They are supposed to be doing a show about the solar system....we'll see how that goes.

We are enjoying having Dave work from home. We dont see him much during the day but we know he is here. He has an office down stairs and we have a schoolroom upstairs. Its pretty neat. God has been so good to us. Today is My niece Ruthie Kate Dials birthday. She is one year old today. Happy birthday Ruthie!!!! We love you.

Sweet Time on the Trampoline

Tonight we had our family devotion outside on the trampoline. We all sat around while Dave talked about what Jesus would have been doing on this night 2008 years ago. We talked about the last supper and Him praying in the garden, and as I sat there listening, I thought how pretty the sky looked tonight. There were some clouds but we could still see some stars and the moon was full. I thought about how these were the same stars that Jesus saw the night before He was crucified. The story has never seemed as real as it did tonight. After we were done we came in and Dave said the kids will never forget that. I have to agree.
