my three

Alicia took these pictures of our family on Friday. I think she did a great job. These are two of my favorites.....I really love these kids! Don't they look like are having fun. Can't you hear their giggles. I wish I could bottle it to have forever.

Priorities

Below is an excerpt from the book Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. This comes from the chapter Lies women believe about priorities. This was great timing for me to read this. I don't know about you, but I find myself trying to do it all. Trying to be superwoman. This chapter was great for me, especially this:

LIE: A career outside the home is more fulfilling than being a wife and mother.
TRUTH: 1 Timothy 5:9-10 There is no higher calling than that of a wife and mother
Genesis 2:24 3:20 God uniquely designed woman to be a bearer and nurturer of life.
Titus 2 :4-5 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 There is no greater measure of a womans worth or success than the extent to which she serves as the heart of her home.
Genesis 2:18 God's plan is that a woman's primary attention and efforts should go to her children and her husband.

"Life: What a beautiful choice" These women have chosen life by bearing children, and they are also choosing life everyday.....

*with every meal they prepare

*with everyload of dirty clothes they wash

*with every trip they make to the grocery store, to school, to the dentist, to piano lessons, to soccer practice, or to the shoe store

*with every scraped knee they bandage

*with every encouraging word they speak

*with every night hour they spend rocking a sick or scared child

*with every dispute they arbitrate

*with every moment they spend building legos, coloring, helping with math problems, reading a Bible story, or listening to a husband or child describe his day

*with every moment they spend interceding for the spiritual growth and protection of their family.

I love that! I feel I must say I do not think this is saying women cannot work outside of their homes. We just must keep our primary focus on our homes, our husbands and our children. I hope this is as much of an encouragement to you as it was to me.

Bloggers Block

Writers block...isn't that what you call it when you just can't think of anything to write? Well I have had bloggers block. I sit down to do a post and become blank. I do have alot to say though. I am a bit overwhelmed right now with all that I'm involved in. I am doing several bible studies during the week. On Tuesdays we are doing a Precept (Kay Arthur) study of Philippians. It is alot of work, its good stuff, but alot of work. Its amazing how studying about joy can bring to life your absence of joy. Quick story. Our study is on Tuesday night so I prepare dinner for my family early so they will be all taken care of for the night. So on the 2nd night of our study I made a big chicken pot pie. I put it in to cook and then I left for the bible study. Dave was supposed to take it out feed the kids and all would be well when I returned home. I got home from a great study on joy, (you know the study of how no one else can make you lose your joy, yea that study). When I got to the kitchen it was spotless. I could not even find the dinner leftovers. I immediately assume that Dave let the dinner burn and had to throw it away....joy starting to disappear. Then I go to the living room where Dave and Jesse are involved in this great theological discussion and demand to know where the dinner went. Abby had heated the water for hot chocolate and accidentally left the eye on so when Dave took the casserole dish out of the oven and sat it on the stove to cool, it got so hot sitting on the stove that the glass dish exploded sending glass, chicken, crust, and vegetables all over the kitchen. It was an accident.....but I totally lost my joy on everybody in the house. The next day I had to apologize to my little family and call Jesse to ask for forgiveness. So you see I really need the Philippians study:)

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. Philippians 1:27

what a beautiful sight

The kids wanted to have reading time outside today. It is a beautiful day here. And it is such a beautiful sight to see all three of them reading!!! Abby is into the American Girl books, Erin is reading Junie B. Jones Toothless Wonder, and Samo is reading anything I can get him to read. Today it was Dr. Seuss and ABeka readers. And for me, I had some time to dig into one of the bible studies I'm in.

Samuel's Camping Trip

Samuel woke up last Monday morning and his first words were"Daddy how many days til we go camping?" Needless to say he was very excited about his first real camping trip. Jason and Dave had been talking about taking him for a long time. They left yesterday at around 2:00 and got home at 5:00 today. Samuel loved every minute of it. I sent the camera so I could see some of what they did. They hiked about 4 miles....wow, he's such a big boy. He said they threw pine cones at him while he was on the rope, and acted like he was a pinata. He loved it. I'm sure it was good I was not there. :)
